Open Educational Resources Toolkit
Download our toolkit with resources, tips and candid remarks following the creation of our first OER.

Open Educational Resources (OERs) have been gaining momentum in the academic world as an alternative to traditional teaching tools. OERs are educational materials that are freely available for anyone to use, remix, and distribute. OERs are self-published by their authors often with institutional support. We argue that university presses have a role to play as they have much to offer by bringing their expertise to bear on quality control, design and production, as well as ensuring the wide distribution and discoverability of the finished product.
In 2024/5, a small team at the Central European University Press worked with academics, from the Invisible University for Ukraine, on the production and publication of an Open Educational Resource (OER) textbook on Ukrainian Migration. This toolkit offers resources, tips and candid remarks following this experience. We hope it will be of interest to other university presses wanting to explore this innovative and growth area.
