Amsterdam University Press acquires Renaissance Books, strengthening its Asian Studies list

With a focus on East Asian Studies, Renaissance Books comprises over fifty titles, with more than ten in the pipeline, by established authors. Its acquisition offers a significant opportunity for growth with Amsterdam University Press (AUP), an Amsterdam-based scholarly publisher in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

On signing the agreement with Paul Norbury of Renaissance Books, Managing Director of Amsterdam University Press, Jan-Peter Wissink, commented:

"In light of the long history between the Netherlands and Japan, this acquisition is a timely addition to our existing Asian Studies portfolio. We look forward to developing our list with the expertise of Paul Norbury and the top-quality publications of Renaissance Books."

Paul Norbury has been associated with publishing in the field of Japanese Studies for many years and will assist AUP with embedding his list in the publishing activities at AUP. Paul will also join AUP as a freelance commissioning editor. On signing, Paul Norbury commented:

"The quality of the list at Renaissance Books means the move to AUP is all the more logical. The opportunity for growth will be reassuring and affirming to existing and new authors, secure in the knowledge that their work will become a part of a dynamic new focus on Asian Studies at AUP."

AUP is proud to welcome Paul and the authors of Renaissance Books publications to this important new chapter. For questions about the acquisition, please contact Irene van Rossum (i.vanrossum@aup.nl) and Paul Norbury (paul.norbury@renaissancebooks.co.uk).
