"In Harmony with the Law contains published and unpublished lectures and addresses by Pieter Deddens (1891–1958). From 1945 until his death, he was affiliated with the Theological School of Kampen as both professor and librarian. He had planned to devote more time to publishing his research after his retirement, but this did not come to pass. This volume addresses topics such as the ratification of decisions by broader church assemblies, the position of deacons, the Westminster Assembly, the apostolate, and the influence of John Calvin on church polity and church governance. The contributions are preceded by a biographical introduction and concluded with an evaluation of Piet Deddens’s work. Now that the Theological University has relocated from Kampen to Utrecht, this book fills an important biographical and ecclesiastical-law gap in the history of both the university and the church."
