The entire distribution supply chain is currently under considerable stress due to the impacts of the new Brexit trading arrangements, on top of the COVID-19 pandemic. Effective February 1st 2021, our distributor IPS UK are shipping to EU customers under DAP incoterms, which means it is the responsibility of the customer to clear customs and pay any relevant taxes.
AUP is IOSS registered, which means that there should be no additional customs fees for orders under €150. Above this, the import fee currently stands at approximately 20-25 EUR and can increase with the value of your order. The fee can also vary from country to country, according to their customs and tax structures. Additionally, UPS, the carrier that delivers our books, are charging customers an extra cost of £4.15 per carton as their fee for import administration costs.
Many of these issues are out of our control, but AUP are in regular discussions with IPS UK who are doing everything they can to make the process of distributing books into the EU as smooth as possible.
Due to tightened COVID-19 measures, delivery cannot be executed without a telephone number. Amsterdam University Press will only share your telephone number with the delivery service so that your order can be fulfilled.
Delivery time is dependent on postal services. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there are major delays in shipments due to high increases in demand, warehouse and transportation staff shortages, and a worldwide paper shortage. These restrictions and delays across the globe are beyond control, but publishers and distributors are doing their best despite the current situation.
For postage orders, AUP charges shipping costs:
Orders within the Netherlands and Belgium:
Orders throughout rest of Europe:
