Johan Goudsblom

J. Goudsblom (1932) received the Buskenstraat Huet Prize 1975 for his standard balance of Sociology. The culmination of this scientific work with a literary prize is characteristic of the particular importance to Goudsblom. Writer of aphorisms, editor of Propria Cures and co-founder of the literary magazine Tirade, he grew from his dissertation Nihilism and Culture (1960) into a leading Dutch sociologist. His book Fire and Civilization (1992) has been translated into English, German, Spanish, Italian and Hungarian. A Chinese edition is in preparation.
